Design/Build Case Study

Holocene Gets the Job Done

SITUATION: While conducting a boundary survey for a large-scale solar PV system project in North Carolina, Holocene discovered the county GIS was incorrect. Unfortunately, the preliminary site plan had already been submitted by a previous development firm and had been approved.

SOLUTION: Holocene was able to work with the county and secure approval for an updated site plan without impacting the construction schedule.

Projects

Harvest Beulaville, Duplin County, North Carolina

Financing
Holocene arranged sponsor and tax investment for the project financing.

Development
In 2015, Holocene acquired Harvest Beulaville from Harvest Solar and provided continued project
development on this 2,600-kWDC solar PV system located in Duplin County in Eastern North Carolina. Harvest Beulaville is located on land leased from a farmer in Beulaville, NC. Power is being sold to Duke Energy Progress under a 15-year PPA.

EPC
Holocene provided Engineering, Procurement and Construction services for the project. The project was placed into operation in early 2017.

Technology

The 2,600 kWDC fixed-tilt, ground-mount solar PV system covers 11 acres of farm land and will generate the equivalent amount of electricity annually consumed by 260 average-sized households, reducing carbon dioxide by more than 2,000 tons annually.

HCE Johnston County I, Johnston County, NC

Financing
Holocene arranged tax investment and structured the project financing.

Development

In 2014, Holocene began development of HCE Johnston County I, a 2,600 kWDC solar PV system, located on land leased from a farmer in Johnston County, NC. Power is being sold to Duke Energy Progress under a 15-year PPA that was secured by Holocene.

EPC
Holocene provided Engineering, Procurement and Construction services for the project. The project was placed into operation in late 2015.

O&M
Holocene provides asset management services for this 2,000 kWAC (2,600 kWDC) asset.
