Holocene excels at development.

We develop projects in markets where energy cost, construction costs and public policy support intersect to create attractive market returns on capital to our investors. We are skilled at developing solar PV systems which comply with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission guidelines.

Development experts must possess special skills, solid experience and strong relationships. Our team knows how to secure properties; communicate with neighboring landowners; collaborate with planning boards; manage local stakeholder concerns; and complete other entitlement tasks—all with efficiency and professionalism.

In the development process, Holocene works closely with both landowners and local stakeholders, including County Commissioners, County Planning Boards, Economic Development Authorities, Permitting Authorities and community members. We want stakeholders to understand that as serious members of their marketplace, we execute responsible, ethical projects.

Solar PV System Benefits

Fixed, long-term cash flow for the landowner

Tax revenue for the county

Careful stewardship of land throughout project lifecycle

Easy conversion back to the land’s original use

Holocene is eager to discuss the economic benefits a solar PV project generates and to detail the asset’s property impact.

Partner with Holocene. Our future together is green.

Development Case Study

Holocene: A Team Player

SITUATION: In many regions, local planning boards do not have ordinances in place to evaluate and grant permits for the development and construction of solar PV systems.

SOLUTION: Holocene partnered with one of these counties in Virginia, working with the local planning board to develop a solar ordinance.

“It was a great opportunity for me to capitalize on future income and at the same time provide an ideal location to serve the community with a renewable energy source and reduce the dependency on fossil fuels.” – Tony Collins, Landowner

Project

HCE Johnston County I, Johnston County, NC

Financing
Holocene arranged tax investment and structured the project financing.

Development
In 2014, Holocene began development of HCE Johnston County I, a 2,600 kWDC solar PV system, located on land leased from a farmer in Johnston County, NC. Power is being sold to Duke Energy Progress under a 15-year PPA that was secured by Holocene.

EPC
Holocene provided Engineering, Procurement and Construction services for the project. The project was placed into operation in late 2015.

O&M
Holocene provides asset management services for this 2,000 kWAC (2,600 kWDC) asset.

Technology
The 2,600 kWDC fixed-tilt, ground-mount solar PV system covers 11 acres of farm land and will generate the equivalent amount of electricity annually consumed by 250 average-sized households, reducing carbon dioxide by more than 2,000 tons annually.
